Shree Swaminarayan Mandir Kingsbury calls for peace and tolerance on International Yoga Day [First Page] [Prev] 1 2 [Next] [Last Page]
Some 250 'yogis' gathered at Shree Swaminarayan Mandir Kingsbury today to celebrate the second annual International Yoga Day. With Yoga being so synonymous with strength and flexibility as well as boosting mental and emotional peace and wellbeing, the event was used to honour the innocent victims of recent hate-crimes; the mass shootings in Orlando exactly a week ago, and the more recent murder of MP, Jo Cox. A short minute silence was held at the end of the Yoga session to reflect on these horrific events and pray of peace and tolerance.

Representatives from TrustFord Edgware, Enzo Sgambati and Premila Bhojani visited Shree Swaminarayan Mandir Kingsbury to present Swamibapa Football Club with new TrustFord sponsored football kits on Saturday 18th June.

Walkers and drummers from Shree Swaminarayan Mandir Kingsbury support local hospice helping to raise over £160,000
80 ladies from Shree Swaminarayan Mandir Kingsbury took part in the annual Midnight Walk organised by, and in support of, the St Luke's Hospice. In total, over 1500 members of the local community took to the streets to help raise money for this fantastic cause.

Acharya Swamishree's 74th Bhav Pushpanjali
During the bank holiday weekend of May, disciples of Shree Swaminarayan Mandir Kingsbury celebrated His Divine Holiness Acharya Swamishree Maharaj's 74th Birthday. The 3 day celebrations began with a Kirtan Bhakti evening, where the entire congregation joined in with devotional singing. Acharya Swamishree Maharaj Himself has explained "music and song are the best and simplest means to becoming close to God". A video of the events held in India on this special day was also shown.

235th Anniversary Celebration of the Lord's Divine Manifestation
Friday 15th April marked the 235th anniversary since the supreme Lord Shree Swaminarayan manifested on the Earth for the benefit of all souls. Celebrations took place at Shree Swaminarayan Mandir Kingsbury in the traditional way of re-enacting the divine episode of the Lord's arrival.

Would-be London Mayors Come for the blessing of the Supreme Lord
The leading London Mayoral candidates, Conservative Zac Goldsmith and Labour's Sadiq Khan visited Shree Swaminarayan Mandir Kingsbury in recent days to gain the blessings of the Lord as their election campaigns build to a climax. With the candidates manifestos strongly focussing on environmental issues, both were keen to associate themselves with the world's first eco-temple.

Fuldolotsav celebrations at Shree Swaminarayan Mandir Kingsbury
Fuldol Utsav is a celebration whereby people all over India spend the days by showering others with coloured water, and vibrant, pigmented paints in the form of gulal powder. Fuldol, also known as Pushpadolotsav is celebrated on the day after Holi. Pushpa means flower; hence, this is the festival of flowers and colours. The idea behind the festival is to strive for God to shower one's life with devotion and to symbolically allow God to become closer to one's heart by always pertaining to offer bhakti.

Well over one hundred runners young and old turned out in force on Sunday 20th March for the Sainsbury's Sport Relief Mile to raise vital funds for this national charity with international reach.

Rear Admiral Graeme Mackay visits our "breath-taking" Mandir
Shree Swaminarayan Mandir Kingsbury was proud to welcome senior member of the Armed Forces, the Royal Navy's Rear Admiral Graeme Mackay, on Wednesday 24th February. His visit follows on from the Army Chaplain General, Reverend Dr David Coulter's visit to the Mandir last March - both with the aim of strengthening the ties between our community and the British Armed Forces.
