One afternoon, Lord Ghanshyam and His childhood friends, Madhav, Veniram and others, went to Lake Meen to swim. Whilst they were swimming, they saw a fisherman who was filling up a basket with fish that he had caught from the lake. Lord Ghanshyam became extremely sad when He saw all the innocent dead fish. As soon as his Merciful eyes saw the dead fish, they became alive and went back into the water. Veniram and Madhav were amazed to see such a miracle but the fisherman became very angry and started running after Lord Ghanshyam to try to hit Him.
So that the fisherman would understand the sins he was committing by killing the fish, Lord Ghanshyam made him see Yampuri (Hell). The fisherman saw the extremely frightening figure of Yamraj, the king of Yampuri. The Yamraj had huge, pointed eyes, a long moustache, a long tongue and eighteen hands, in each of which, he carried a sword. The fisherman was scared and started to shake. Yamraj's attendants started to hit the fisherman with their sticks.
When he could not tolerate the suffering any longer, the fisherman fell down onto the ground and grabbed hold of Lord Ghanshyam's feet. He cried and begged to be saved from the pain. Lord Ghanshyam took mercy on the fisherman and made Yamraj disappear. The fisherman now became convinced that this young child was not an ordinary child but was certainly the supreme Lord Himself.
he fisherman told Lord Ghanshyam about the desperate situation and hard times that he faced during his life, which forced him to start fishing to earn a living. Lord Ghanshyam then told him to live his life according to the beliefs of religion and told him to perform manual labour to earn a living. The fisherman bowed down to Lord Ghanshyam and promised that he would not kill again to make a living, and then he went home. According to the Lord's instruction, the fisherman started to live a decent life and follow religious beliefs. After a short time, by the mercy of Lord Ghanshyam, that man became relieved of his poverty (he was no longer poor) and started to live a comfortable life (became rich).
