2 teaspoons of salt
1 heaped teaspoon of cinnamon
90 grams of butter/margarine
14 grams dried instant/fast acting yeast
2 300ml Luke warm water

For coating

500grams caster sugar
1 teaspoon of cinnamon

Seive
Tablespoon
Bowl
Air tight container
Frying pan
Drainer
Baking tray
Saucepan

Method for Making the Dough

1 Measure the above ingredients.

2 Pour the water into a saucepan and put it on low heat on a cooker hob to get the water to luke warm. (Luke warm is when the water is only warm enough so that it can be touched by your hands)

3 In a bowl sieve flour, salt, sugar and cinnamon. To that add butter/margarine and mix well.

4 Add yeast to the mixture.

5 Add the luke warm water to make the dough and knead well for approx 3-4 minutes.

6 Place the dough in an airtight container and leave in a warm place for 1 hour.

7 After an hour remove from the container and knead the dough.

8 Then take approximately 1 tablespoon of the dough and roll it into a small ball then flatten it. Repeat this method for the rest of the dough.

Frying the Doughnuts

1 Put oil in a frying pan and for deep-frying and heat the oil.

2 Once the oil is hot place the doughnuts in the oil to fry on a low heat.

3 When one side starts to go golden brown turn the doughnuts so that the other side cooks./p>

4 Remove from the oil using a drainer when both sides are golden brown.

5 Repeat steps 1-5 for the rest of the doughnuts

Coating the Doughnuts

1 In a tray/plate mix the caster sugar and cinnamon.

2 After each batch of doughnuts are done leave them to rest for a few minutes.

3 Then place the doughnuts into the caster sugar and cinnamon mixture and coat them well. (Either use a spoon to coat or enjoy coating with your hands, just make sure you have washed your hands!)
