Mon 2 Oct 2023
The ritual is performed each year on Bhadarva Sud 2. This year, this auspicious date fell on Sunday 17 September 2023.
Male, Hindu Dweejs (Brahmins) and ascetics adorn the auspicious Yagnopavit. This Yagnopavit thread is sacrosanct, and gives strength and power to perform the Yagna ceremony. It hangs around the torso diagonally from the left shoulder to the right thigh. Persons eligible to adorn the Yagnopavit are given an initiation at the age of eight, after which the person commences study of the scriptures. Ascetics are given the sacred thread upon initiation as a sant.
In the Karan Satsang, the Yagnopavit Mahotsav, the annual ritual of ceremonially changing the sacred thread worn by sants, is held at Kadi Mandir. This has remained the tradition from the time of Sadguru Shree Ishwarcharandasji Swamibapa. The ritual is performed each year on Bhadarva Sud 2. This year, this auspicious date fell on Sunday 17 September 2023.
Acharya Swamiji Maharaj arrived in Kadi the preceding day, when He was ceremonially welcomed by the sants and disciples living in Kadi.
After the Lord’s Shangar Aarti, the mahapooja ceremony was commenced during which the Yagnopavits were sanctified. Acharya Swamiji Maharaj then offered a Yagnopavit to Shree Ghanshyam Maharaj, Jeevanpran Bapashree and Gurudev Swamibapa. He also changed His own Yagnopavit with a new one, and then gave a new Yagnopavit to each sant.
