5:00am Mangla Aarti

Shree Swaminarayan Tower, Chatralay, Santos living quarters, and the outside of the temple were decorated with a spectacular display of light. The main road was lined with flickering flags waving in the centre of the road guiding everyone to the temple.

Inside the temple students of the chatralay and devotees gathered to awaken the Lord and be granted the divine darsan of the first divine aarti of the day... Mangla Aarti.

The temple was decorated with circular murtis suspended from the ceiling of Ghanshyam Maharaj, Jeevanpran Bapashree, Jeevanpran Swamibapa and HDH Acharya Swamishree. As the murtis slowly span around they revealed another murti.

The disciples chanted the dhoon "Swaminarayan Gadi, Swaminarayan", followed by "Swaminarayan Gadi, Jaya Ghanashyam" whilst the poojari sants awakened the Lord. As 5:30am drew near, the chanting grew louder and the rhythm increased.

At precisely 5:30am the singhasan doors opened. The darshan was breathtaking.... His Divine Holiness Acharya Swamishree performed Mangla aarti.

The magnificent silver singhasan had been decorated with beautiful flowers trailing down the singhasan.

The Lord was adorned with His night clothing, a yellow paag, and yellow warm vaga, maroon surval embroided with golden thread and dark green shawl. In front of murti had been placed a silver table with a silver kasyo with water, a daatan in His right hand. Shree Hari Krishna Maharaj and Shree Sahajanand Swami were similarly adorned. Jeevanpran Bapashree was adorned with a dark green shawl, and a yellow scarf around His paag. Jeevanpran Swamibapa was adorned with a yellow shawl, and a yellow scarf around His paag.

7:15am Shangar Aarti

The temple was full to the brim. The worshippers waited impatiently for the doors of the singhasan to open. The Lord's divine darshan was mesmerizing...

Shree Ghanshyam Maharaj was adorned with a pink paag, with a pale yellow kalangi. The paag was decorated with strings of pearl, shimmering diamond kundal, pale yellow vagas with a pale pink border with deep pink and golden haar with necklaces. Draped around the Lord were yellow and pink shawls. In His right hand the Lord held a pale blue handkerchief. In the Lord's left was a golden punjo.

His Divine Holiness Acharya Swamishree performed Shangar Aarti. Immediately after the prathana, Acharya Swamishree and the sants went to the Shree Swaminarayan Tower.

7:45 am - Swagat Yatra

On this first day of the Mahotsav, the sants and devotees waited patiently at Shree Swaminarayan Tower for HDH Acharya Swamishree in anticipation of His darsan. The beautifully constructed boat chariot awaited eagerly to serve Lord Swaminarayanbapa Swamibapa and Acharya Swamishree.

Shree Muktajeevan Pipe Band gave a rendition of their repertoire whilst Acharya Swamishree and the sants went into the Tower for darshan. The Band saluted HDH Acharya Swamishree whilst He was being garlanded by the devotees on whose behalf the Vachnamrut Parayan was being held. Aarti was offered.

The procession started at Shree Swaminarayan Tower. The band lead the procession along Swaminarayan Road. The sants and male devotees, the chariot and the ladies followed.

At the entrance of the Sabha Mandap, HDH Acharya Swamishree was lead towards the magnificent singhasan by the band. A divine sabha had gathered gathered at the Lotus Feet of Lord Swaminarayan.

9:00am - Pad Yatra

The disciples slept for one hour on each day. Throughout the journey they chanted the mahamantra "Swaminarayan" and waved the Swaminarayan Gadi flag. As they reached Maninagardham, firecrackers were lit. They ended their pilgrimage in the sabha mandap.
