The 4 month period between Ashad sud ekadashi (Devshayni Ekadashi - usually falls around July) and Kartik sud ekadashi (Prabodhini Ekadashi - usually falls in October / November) is referred to as the Chaturmas. During this time, all disciples will take extra vows such as fasting, scripture recitals, meditation and other religious observances as described by Lord Swaminarayan in the Shikshapatri, sloks 76-78. The Adhik month is considered very auspicious and extra observances. One of the major observances taken is to attend religious discourses. To facilitate this important observance, special Chaturmas Katha (discourses) lasting for 5 days is held in all the major Mandirs of Maninagar Shree Swaminarayan Gadi Sansthan. During these discourses, scholarly Sants recite and explain passages from Gurudev Shree Muktajeevan Swamibapa’s Sanskrit scripture, Shree Swaminarayanbapa Charitramrut Sagar.

The Sants and disciples of Bhuj held the Chaturmas Katha from Sunday 8 to Thursday 12 August 2021. Shree Vignanprakashdasji Swami eloquently recited episodes from Jeevanpran Shree Abji Bapashree’s divine biographical chapter of Shree Swaminarayanbapa Charitramrut Sagar. During the final two days, Acharya Swamiji Maharaj also arrived in Bhuj, and bestowed divine blessings during the assemblies held on those final two days.
