On Sunday 15th September, His Divine Holiness Acharya Swamishree Maharaj inspired a Pothi Yatra – a parade of scriptures – through the streets of holy Kheda. The event was to promote the upcoming festivals taking place from 5-11 November; Shree Abji Bapashree Shatamrut Mahotsav and Shree Vacharamrut Dwishatabdi Mahotsav.

Thousands of disciples lined the streets of Kheda to see this spectacle and enjoy the divine darshan of Acharya Swamishree Maharaj. The parade saw Him preside over the whole event from a golden chariot, while disciples carried various scriptures on their heads – denoting the importance of spiritual knowledge and promoting the upcoming Mahotsav that celebrates the 200th anniversary since the Vacahanamrut scripture was published.

The parade started on the outskirts of the village and concluded at Shree Swaminarayan Mandir Kheda, where Acharya Swamishree Maharaj and Sants performed the Panchamrut Snan (bathing with five nectars) ceremony to the Lord. The gathered congregation then attentively listened to Acharya Swamishree Maharaj’s divine ashirwad, before the event concluded.

The village of Kheda is of course extremely significant to the disciples of Shree Swaminarayan Gadi, as it was where our beloved Gurudev and founder of Maninagar Shree Swaminarayan Gadi Sansthan manifested on Monday 7th October 1907 (Samvat 1963 Bhadarva Vad Amas). Every Poonam, many disciples form the surrounding regions and farther afield gather at Kheda Mandir to celebrate the auspicious monthly occasion. Many travel by foot to Kheda. The Poonam events were held on this day as it was being graced with the presence of Acharya Swamishree Maharaj on this occasion.
