Acharya Swamishree performed the Murti Pratishtha in the morning. In the evening sants and disciples performed devotional music and dances.

Morning

The third day of the Murti Pratishtha Mahotsav was the day of the installation ceremony itself – the day that the supreme Lord Swaminarayanbapa Swamibapa begins to bestow His divine darshan at Shree Swaminarayan Temple, Surat. After performing Mangla Aarti, His Divine Holiness Acharya Swamishree presided over the Yagna Ceremony inside the Temple.

As part of the Yagna ceremony, ancient Vedic verses were chanted in strict accordance with the Hindu scripture, as Acharya Swamishree conducted the Yagna Ceremony. Hundreds of disciples packed into the Temple to have the divine darshan of Acharya Swamishree performing the auspicious ceremony. After concluding the Yagna and Murti Pratishtha ceremonies, Acharya Swamishree performed the very first Aarti to the Murtis of Shree Ghanshyam Maharaj, Jeevanpran Abji Bapashree and Jeevanpran Swamibapa.

A magnificent array of lavish food dishes was then placed before the Lord in the form of a divine ‘Annkut.’ Shree Muktajeevan Pipe Band London and His Holiness Swamibapa Pipe Band Nairobi took the opportunity to perform salutations to Lord Swaminarayanbapa Swamibapa and Acharya Swamishree.

The morning’s proceedings concluded with disciples from around the world having the opportunity to offer Aarti to the Lord, after which everyone received Prasad lunch.

Afternoon

During the afternoon congregation on the third and penultimate day of the Murti Pratishtha Mahotsav, His Divine Holiness Acharya Swamishree presided over the continuing recital of the Rahasyarth Pradipika Tika sah Vachanamrut scripture. Acharya Swamishree then delivered His divine ashirwad.

  • For many days we have awaited the darshan of Lord Swaminarayanbapa Swamibapa here at Shree Swaminarayan Temple Surat. That day is finally upon us. The Lord has taken His place at this grand Temple. Whosoever performs darshan with love at this divine abode will have all his sins eradicated. He will experience complete bliss.
  • The magnificent Nagar Yatra took place yesterday. The Lord gave His darshan throughout presided on a military-style tank to represent the battle to overcome one’s internal enemies. Tens of thousands of people experienced this divine darshan. Let us pray to the Lord that whoever had the privilege of that darshan becomes worthy of salvation.
  • Wherever one looked during the procession, the devotion of sants and disciple could be seen. The amazing vehicles and chariots that the sants had designed and realised awestruck anyone who saw them. Shree Muktajeevan Pipe Band London and His Holiness Swamibapa Pipe Band Nairobi, all comprising of disciple who have taken time off work, played throughout the parade. These are all embodiments of devotion.
  • In the First Gadhada Section of the Vachanamrut scripture, the Lord has stated that even those who are able to visualise the Lord, should remember His actions and episodes. Why is this? At the end of his life, a person may forget the Lord’s Murti. However, by recalling one of God’s episode, the person will also remember God and reap the benefits of remembering His Murti. That is the reason for holding these grand festival, so that one develops memories of God.

Following Acharya Swamishree’s blessing, those that had pledged donations to Shree Swaminarayan Temple Surat went for His darshan and to collect a souvenir gift of the Mahotsav.  

Evening

The final evening of the Murti Pratishtha Mahotsav was a night of devotional music, song and dance. Participants included disciples of India, Nairobi and London, as well as the incredibly talented sants.

The evening began with the trustees of Shree Swaminarayan Gadi Sansthan Temples from around the world and senior sants honouring His Divine Holiness Acharya Swamishree with flowers and garlands. This was particularly befitting as today was St Valentine’s Day – the day dedicated to demonstrating one’s love. The performances began with a series of devotional songs, performed by Jeevanpran Swamibapa’s sants:

  1. “Nirkhya re Ghanashyam rupada” – Shree Uttamsharandasji Swami
  2. “Latkado tore ave” – Sadguru Shree Munibhushandasji Swami
  3. “Chalo darshan kari e mara vahla Shree Ghanshyam” - Sadguru Shree Munibhushandasji Swami
  4. “Aavo aavo pragat parcho jova” – Shree Satyaprakashdasji Swami
  5. “Avtar na avtari” - Shree Satyaprakashdasji Swami
  6. ”Shree Ghanshyam sukh kari” – Shree Dharmavatsaldasji Swami
  7. ”Devo ne avtaro” – Jignesh Patel
  8. ”Mohan lagi che” – Shree Ananatananddasji Swami
  9. ”Tere pyaar me” – Shree Sarvagunalaydasji Swami
  10. “Mare aaj pritam gher aavya” – Shree Yagnapriyadasji Swami
  11. “Shreeji ke sang pyaar” - Shree Uttamsharandasji Swami
  12. “Laakho jan na mukti daataa” - Sadguru Shree Munibhushandasji Swami

The devotional singing was followed by a number of dance performances by disciples:

  1. “Swamibapa Pyara” – Disciples of Nairobi
  2. “Je Hariji aapne ghame” – Disciples of Maninagar
  3. “Aavo aavo Ghanshyamji” – Disciples of Surat
  4. “Kanthi bandhi che” – Disciples from Panchmahal
  5. “Kando se kandhe milte hai” - Disciples of Maninagar
  6. Shree Muktajeevan Drum Core London in conjunction with Shree Muktajeevan Dhol Sants.

The finale to the evening was a combined performance from Shree Muktajeevan Pipe Band London, His Holiness Swamibapa Pipe Band and Swamibapa’s sants, which filled the entire Sabha Mandap with the rhythm of drums and dhols and the melodious sounds of bagpipes. Acharya Swamishree took to the stage, which stimulated the entire congregation to take to their feet and dance, to ensure this was a truly memorable occasion.
