Murti Pratishtha Mahotsav - Day 3
Saturday 14 February 2009, Samvat 2065 Maha Vad 5
The third day of the Murti Pratishtha Mahotsav was the day of the installation ceremony itself – the day that the supreme Lord Swaminarayanbapa Swamibapa begins to bestow His divine darshan at Shree Swaminarayan Temple, Surat. After performing Mangla Aarti, His Divine Holiness Acharya Swamishree presided over the Yagna Ceremony inside the Temple.
As part of the Yagna ceremony, ancient Vedic verses were chanted in strict accordance with the Hindu scripture, as Acharya Swamishree conducted the Yagna Ceremony. Hundreds of disciples packed into the Temple to have the divine darshan of Acharya Swamishree performing the auspicious ceremony. After concluding the Yagna and Murti Pratishtha ceremonies, Acharya Swamishree performed the very first Aarti to the Murtis of Shree Ghanshyam Maharaj, Jeevanpran Abji Bapashree and Jeevanpran Swamibapa.
A magnificent array of lavish food dishes was then placed before the Lord in the form of a divine ‘Annkut.’ Shree Muktajeevan Pipe Band London and His Holiness Swamibapa Pipe Band Nairobi took the opportunity to perform salutations to Lord Swaminarayanbapa Swamibapa and Acharya Swamishree.
The morning’s proceedings concluded with disciples from around the world having the opportunity to offer Aarti to the Lord, after which everyone received Prasad lunch.
During the afternoon congregation on the third and penultimate day of the Murti Pratishtha Mahotsav, His Divine Holiness Acharya Swamishree presided over the continuing recital of the Rahasyarth Pradipika Tika sah Vachanamrut scripture. Acharya Swamishree then delivered His divine ashirwad.
Following Acharya Swamishree’s blessing, those that had pledged donations to Shree Swaminarayan Temple Surat went for His darshan and to collect a souvenir gift of the Mahotsav.
The final evening of the Murti Pratishtha Mahotsav was a night of devotional music, song and dance. Participants included disciples of India, Nairobi and London, as well as the incredibly talented sants.
The evening began with the trustees of Shree Swaminarayan Gadi Sansthan Temples from around the world and senior sants honouring His Divine Holiness Acharya Swamishree with flowers and garlands. This was particularly befitting as today was St Valentine’s Day – the day dedicated to demonstrating one’s love. The performances began with a series of devotional songs, performed by Jeevanpran Swamibapa’s sants:
The devotional singing was followed by a number of dance performances by disciples:
The finale to the evening was a combined performance from Shree Muktajeevan Pipe Band London, His Holiness Swamibapa Pipe Band and Swamibapa’s sants, which filled the entire Sabha Mandap with the rhythm of drums and dhols and the melodious sounds of bagpipes. Acharya Swamishree took to the stage, which stimulated the entire congregation to take to their feet and dance, to ensure this was a truly memorable occasion.
