In 1907, Gurudev Jeevanpran Shree Muktajeevan Swamibapa manifested upon this Earth in the town of Kheda, situated along the banks of Vatrak River. On the precise location of Swamibapa’s manifestation, His beloved spiritual heir Acharya Swamishree Maharaj built a splendid Mandir. Shree Swaminarayan Mandir, Pragatyadham Kheda, was opened in 1990.
Since its opening, Shree Swaminarayan Mandir, Pragatyadham Kheda has become a sacred site of pilgrimage. In particular, disciples travel large distances on foot for the Lord’s darshan on the day of Poonam – full moon day of each month. The disciples devotedly embark on this monthly pilgrimage.
On Thursday 19 September 2013, Bhadarva Sud Poonam, Acharya Swamishree Maharaj and Sants joined the pilgrims and visited Kheda Pragatyadham. A procession was held from the outskirts of Kheda to welcome Acharya Swamishree Maharaj. Thousands of disciples had flocked to Kheda for this auspicious occasion. Having reached the Mandir, Acharya Swamishree offered a lavish array of sweet foods to the Lord in the form of an annakut. The Murti of Gurudev Jeevanpran Swamibapa was bathed in the five nectars, and the Prasad distributed to all the disciples present. During His divine blessings, Acharya Swamishree Maharaj explained the significance of this auspicious site, and the spiritual merit gained from visiting Kheda Pragatyadham.
