H H Swamibapa Pipe Band performs at swearing-in of Kenyan president 2013
On Tuesday, 9th April 2013, H H Swamibapa Pipe Band was invited to perform and entertain an estimated 60,000 people at the Kasarani Sports Complex for swearing-in ceremony of the fourth president of Kenya, Uhuru Kenyatta. About a dozen African leaders and a number of foreign diplomats were present to witness this historical event.
As the band took its position on the center stage, there was total silence and all the eyes in the stadium focused on the band. The atmosphere soon turned electrifying! There was cheering, clapping, waving of flags, whistles blowing and dancing from all corners of the stadium as the band played melodious religious songs as well as Kenyan patriotic songs.
The Band represented Nairobi County and gave an outstanding performance of something unique from the rest of the counties; a different blend of music from what Kenyans are normally used to “traditional ngoma”. A vast majority of the audience had never before experienced or heard live blend of Scottish instruments.
