On Saturday, 5 January 2008, Mumbai’s elite Bruhad Gujarati Samaj, and its affiliated 113 organisations, presented the GUJARAT GAURAV award to Acharya Swamishree Purushottampriyadasji Maharaj, at the Islam Gymkhana Ground, Marine Drive, Mumbai, in the presence of 10,000 eminent Gujaratis living and working in Maharashtra.
Dignitary guests at this function were Honourable Shree Praful Patel, Minister for Civil Aviation, Government of India, and Honourable Shree R R Patil, Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra.
On 7th January 2008, the day of His return to Nairobi from this prestigious award ceremony, the devotees warmly welcomed Acharya Swamishree Purushottampriyadasji Maharaj with a grand performance specially held in recognition of the presentation to Him with the accolade, the Pride of Gujarat.
H H Swamibapa Pipe Band gave a guard of honour to Acharya Swamishree and led the procession from H H Swamibapa Hall to the main temple hall. Devotees dressed in traditional costumes welcomed Acharya Swamishree from the entrance to the Sihashan while performing a spectacular “lezim dance.”
Devotees had baked a special cake in honour of the GUJARAT GAUVRAV award presented to Acharya Swamishree; their humble sentiments were inscribed on a plaque besides the cake - ACHARYA SWAMISHREE PURUSHOTTAMPRIYADASJI MAHARAJ - YOUR SUCCESS IS A MATTER OF PRIDE AND ALL DEVOTEES WISH YOU MANY MORE SUCH ACHIEVEMENTS – CONGRATULATIONS.
Acharya Swamishree cut the cake and offered it to Lord Swaminarayanbapa Swamibapa and everyone had His divine darshan as He happily stood on the Gadi dancing to the music of the tune” Jay Jay Swamibapa, Oh Jay Jay Swamibapa.”
The highlight of the occasion was the stunning dance “Shubh Swagatam, Shubh Swagatam” performed by boys and girls. A total of 75 devotees participated in this unforgettable evening performance.
Acharya Swamishree blessed all the disciples present on this memorable occasion.
