Kingsbury Mandir Grand Opening

To celebrate the opening of Shree Swaminarayan Mandir Kingsbury, His Divine Holiness Acharya Swamishree Purushottampriyadasji Maharaj has inspired a magnificent five-day festival called, “Kingsbury Mandir Grand Opening.” 20-24 August will see a beautiful mosaic of colour, music, dance, pageantry and ritual. Acharya Swamishree Maharaj extends a personal invitation for all to join us.

Discard the darkness of ignorance with enthusiasm and eagerness, as this ignites the flame of true progression. A religious festival aims to teach the manner to achieve this goal.
Acharya Swamishree Maharaj

Such festivals (or Mahotsav, in Gujarati), help nurture devotion and knowledge into one’s life, and remind us that we can live happily, successfully, religiously and righteously despite living in an increasingly materialistic, indulgent and hectic society.

Dedicating the life that God has given you to the service of others is the truest celebration of a religious festival.
Acharya Swamishree Maharaj

As such, the theme of this Mahotsav is “Inspiring the Community”; a festival to bring the community together in selfless giving, in celebration of our religious, ethnic and cultural diversity, and to demonstrate what can be achieved through the strength of our unity.

Ultimately, this Mahotsav aims to inspire the disciples of the Lord to further themselves spiritually, and inspire the wider community to abide a little more by the Swaminarayan way of life by giving charitably, acting selflessly, behaving morally and living virtuously.

┬áRemember the various divine episodes of God in whichever different incarnation He has appeared. Have affection for sants and disciples, and retain memories of them all. During one’s dying moments the memories of God’s divine episodes, or of His sants and disciples, or of any association that you have had with them, will remind you of God, and you will experiences immense bliss. It is for this reason that I perform grand festivals.
