Youth counts, you count – Labour Parliamentary candidates’ visit

In the lead up to one of the most interesting and unpredictable general elections in recent history, candidates  from the Labour Party visit Shree Swaminarayan Mandir Kingsbury on Sunday 3rd May, where they summarised their key pledges and encouraged young members of the community in particular to vote and have their say on 7 May.

Prospective parliamentary candidates for Labour Barry Gardiner (Brent North), Gareth Thomas (Harrow West), Uma Kumaran (Harrow East) and Andrew Dismore (Hendon) debated their manifesto of a future Britain with members of the local and Mandir community.

An engaging and lively debate ensued covering a range of local, national and even international issues including investment in public services; affordable housing; coalition politics; wealth creation under austerity; EU membership; and energy and environment policy. It was a fantastic opportunity to understand the choices we have in this election – it was great to see so many people taking part in the discussion.

On Sunday 26 April, the congregation heard from the Conservative Party where they had the opportunity to challenge them on their elections pledges.
