His Divine Holiness Acharya Swamishree Purushottampriyadasji Maharaj  to be honoured at the House of Commons

The event on Monday 13th July has been organised by the Hindu Council of UK and Abhay Lakhani (Parliamentary Advisor on Community Affairs), with the support and backing of MP Stephen Pound. The whole event is expected to be covered by Asian TV networks and shown across 46 countries across the world.

Hindu leaders will join Ministers, Members of Parliament and a number of eminent guests to honour and congratulate Acharya Swamishree in recognition of Him creating a first-of-its-kind English version the scripture, Rahasyarth Pradeepika Tika sah Vachanamrut. The translation represents a landmark in making the Hindu philosophies contained therein accessible to Western audiences.

The event will also be an opportunity for the UK’s Hindu collective to demonstrate their united support for Shree Muktajeevan Swamibapa Complex - a new Swaminarayan Temple alongside a community and sports centre - that will take shape in Kingsbury, London. The new Complex will provide the Organisation with purpose-built premises to better accommodate a wide range of sports, cultural, artistic and charitable activities that the organisation currently runs. Some of these art forms, particularly traditional Indian music and dance, will be showcased at the House of Commons.

MPs Steven Pound and Tony McNulty, sponsors of the HoC event, visited the Temple in Golders Green recently during the official reception ceremony to welcome Acharya Swamishree to the UK.

“It is heartening to see that while you integrate with modern society, you embrace your glorious heritage, which is many thousands of years old, and share it with us. You really are an asset to the community, and I congratulate Acharya Swamishree for this. Allow me to pledge my fullest support to your plans for the future; we will do everything in our power to help you realise your dreams going forward.” Mr Stephen  Pound, MP for Ealing North. Sunday 14th June 2009.

“The 13th of July will not only be a celebration of the publication of the Vachanamrut scripture, but a celebration of  this wonderful community.” Rt Hon Tony McNulty, MP for Harrow East. Sunday 14th June 2009.
