Why do we burn Agarbati?

The burning of agarbati (incense sticks) fills the air with a divine and calming scent to focus our sense of smell on the Lord. Just as the nagara fills the air with divine sound and our hearing is focussed on the Lord, agarbati scent is stronger than any other smells in the air, and helps us to focus our senses on the Lord.
